Active road noise cancellation

Adaptive Road Noise Cancellation for real-world cabins

Road and structure-borne noise changes continuously with road surface, vehicle speed and operating conditions. Conventional passive treatment can reduce some of this noise, but adds weight and cannot adapt in real time.

ARNC uses vehicle reference signals, microphones and the cabin audio system to reduce unwanted low- and mid-frequency road noise around the listener.

Listener-Aware Road Noise Control

SPB Audio Lab’s ARNC technology combines real-time adaptive processing with virtual microphone control to create a quiet zone near the listener’s actual head position.

The architecture can adapt to head position, cabin geometry and available processing resources while using the vehicle’s existing audio path where the platform allows.

Key Features

Reduces road and structure-borne noise across a configurable low- and mid-frequency range.
Supports quiet-zone adjustment using head-position or occupant-related information where available.

AENC — Active Engine Noise Cancellation

Dynamic multi-order cancellation of engine and powertrain harmonics under transient RPM conditions

ARNC — Active Road Noise Cancellation

Broadband control of road and structure-borne noise with virtual microphones and listener-aware quiet-zone positioning

HVAC ANC — HVAC Noise Cancellation

Tonal and turbulent HVAC noise reduction using microphone references and the available cabin audio path
